I work in photography, video and performance media, while dealing with topics about the plasticity of identity and the effects of the social and political environment on the individual. Materializing and embodying psychological states, I cut, hide or disable the figures and forms—linking materiality and texture in a constant process of manipulation and transformation. My work uses references from religious iconography where we find rituls, sacred objects and representation of deities that are presented formally or metaphorically. Theatricality and the capacity of the hybrid self also play important roles, as subject matter and the body become battlefields in the creation of individual, social, political and cultural identities.
